Northern Roots is a company founded by Lone Sorensen, long-time Yellowknife resident and avid grower North of 60. Northern Roots aims to help communities to regain and reinvent the local food security and food sovereignty our society has lost over the last century.

Through education, consultation, mentorship, and integrating new growing techniques, Northern Roots strives to create awareness of the opportunities that local food security creates for the North’s communities and peoples.

Northern Roots is about creating connections and helping people work together. Lone has the local food growing skills, the knowledge, and a large network to build on and raise awareness for increasing growing food in the Northwest Territories.
